Rahul was just 17 when he first tasted alcohol at a college
party. What seemed like harmless fun quickly became a dangerous path into
addiction. It started with casual drinking, but soon spiralled into regular
alcohol abuse and later into drug use. Like many young adults in India, Rahul
underestimated the grip of alcohol
and drug addiction. By 25, he was caught in a cycle of missed work, broken
relationships, and growing despair.
His turning point came one morning when he looked in the
mirror and barely recognized himself. That same day, his mother showed him a
childhood photo—smiling, full of life. That memory broke something inside. The
next day, he walked through the doors of Brindhavan Deaddiction Centre in
Dindigul, a trusted and respected rehabilitation centre in Dindigul known
for its compassionate care and holistic healing.
The road to recovery wasn’t easy. Rahul experienced
withdrawal symptoms, anxiety, and moments where giving up seemed easier. But
with constant mental health support, professional counseling, and community
encouragement, he began to heal. Sessions in yoga for recovery helped him
reconnect with his mind and body, while structured therapy helped him rebuild
his sense of self-worth.
At Brindhavan
Rehab, Rahul wasn’t just treated—he was truly understood. The expert team
addressed not only his physical dependence but also the emotional scars of
alcohol and drug addiction. Slowly, he began to rediscover himself. He started
painting again, reconnected with his family, and began sharing his experiences
with others walking the same difficult path.
Today, Rahul has reclaimed his life. He now volunteers at Brindhavan Rehabilitation Centre in
Dindigul, where he shares his journey with others who feel trapped in the
darkness of addiction.
